Men standing in front of plane Westland Wapiti of RAAF which departed Point Cook, Victoria, on 12 July 1932 for a three-month Commonwealth Geographical Aerial Survey of twenty areas in Australia. In north Australia the areas were Bathurst and Melville Islands and the Daly River basin. The aircraft arrived in Darwin on 17 July 1932 and then the survey departed at 8am on 26 July for Wave Hill thence Western Australia, reaching Point Cook on 13 September.
