Description: The south side of the 1600 block of U Street in Washington, D.C. The largest building, 1612 U Street, was built in 1912 for American Motor Schools and designed by Appleton P. Clark Jr.. It currently houses Vida Fitness. The ivory building, 1610 U Street, was built in 1911 and designed by Clement August Didden. It currently houses Exiles Bar, but was the longtime home of Stetson's Famous Bar & Grill as well as Alfred’s Steak House. 1610 and 1612 are contributing properties to the Strivers' Section Historic District. The one-story strip to the left, built in 1900, is a contributing property to the Sixteenth Street Historic District.
