Description: This is an edited version of the earlier version. The image titled "1948_original_railroads_in_Philadelphia.jpg" (Source) is incorrect. The Washington Avenue line (referred to as the PW&BRR) did not go over the Arsenal Bridge. The line that goes over the Arsenal bridge continues down the 25st elevated and trains running on street level on Washington Avenue could not climb the grade to the Elevated Arsenal bridge approach. (Source) To compensate for this Conrail kept using the PW&B swing bridge number 31 until 1984 as this would allow them to continue serving the Washington Avenue At-grade line. (Source) Therefore, I have uploaded a new photo-shopped version of this map that shows this correction.
