Description: The 66 was still the 1st generation of Chevelle on the same frame as the 64/65 cars, they got a restyled body in 1966 with a smoother contour and coke bottle styling. Available in Hardtop Coupe, Convertible, Sedan and Wagon, the SS performance package was only available in Sports Coupe or Convertible. Now called the SS396 because the SSs all got the 396 cu in engine, standard Sports Coupes were the Malibu The SS got a strengthened chassis, stiffer suspension, simulated hood scoops, extra chrome mouldings, bucket seats, console and extra gauges.
