Image: 2004- "Climate change" as a search term - Google trends
Description: Chart of usage of "climate change" as a search term, from data published by Google Trends Strange, re Version 7 (data through Dec 2025, data downloaded on 19 Jan 2026): Google Chrome didn't have a download button at https://trends.google.com/explore?q=climate%20change&date=all&geo=Worldwide but it did have a download button at https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%22climate%20change%22&hl=en which I arrived at through Firefox Source data for Version 6: https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%22climate%20change%22&hl=en Source data settings: worldwide, all categories, web search Version 6: updated with data through June 2024 Versions before Version 6: To achieve a smooth chart, uploader used 24-month averaging, and (for the thick solid line) excluded from the original data apparently-anomalous datapoints for April 2022 ("100"), and April 2023 ("49"). Possibly, these values related to Earth Day-related searches. Anomalousness for Versions 4+ was judged as a single month's data being more than 2.5 times higher than next largest other data points. Version 3 added a thin dotted line based on data including the apparently-anomalous values. Version 4 reduced the number of excluded data points from 3 to 2 for the thick solid line. Technical note: most SVG code was automatically generated by the "line charts" and "Scatterplots" spreadsheets linked at User:RCraig09/Excel to XML for SVG. Minor additions and adjustments were made in a text editor.
