A 1930s FSA—Farm Security Administration project built by the WPA—Works Progress Administration. The plight of the Okies and a description of Weedpatch Camp were chronicled by novelist John Steinbeck in his book The Grapes of Wrath. On the National Register of Historic Places in Kern County, California.
