Description: 409 Main Street, Ferndale, California is a tiny Italianate storefront built by by Dr. Alford as a Drug Store in 1887. After being Becker's pool hall, it became a breakfast/lunch restaurant named after a dairyman ("Poppa Joe") who ran it as a "day care center for retired dairymen" until his death in the early 21st century. His heirs continue to run his restaurant located in the Ferndale Main Street Historic District, NRHP Reference # 93001461.
