Description: St. Augustine's Academy at 427 Vine Street between N. Lawrecne and N. 5th Streets in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was founded in 1811 as the parochial school connected to St. Augustine's Church at 243 N. Lawrence Street. In 1842, people associated with the Academy also founded the Augustinian College of Villanova, now Villanova University. The Academy on Vine Street was burned in the same Nativist riot in 1844 which burned down St. Augustine Church, and a new school was built at 257 N. Lawrence, near the new church. (Source: [1])
