Description: Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado, USA, crosses the Arkansas River about 5 miles west of Cañon City. The bridge deck is 955 ft (291 m) above the river according to an independent measurement made in 2005. The official measurement has long been 1,053 ft (321 m), which probably includes the towers. It was the highest bridge in the world from the time it was built in 1929 until 2001.
