The accompanying illustration, taken at Camp Dix, New Jersey, one ofthe thirty-two major cantonments utilized during the War to train the Ameri-can Expeditionary Forces, gives an excellent idea of the civilian appearanceof the men drafted into the American army, as they appeared upon arrivalat camp.
