Description: St Mary's parish church, Bruton, Somerset: wall-mounted monument to Captain William Berkeley. He matriculated at Christchurch Oxford aged 16. He later commanded the fourth-rate frigate HMS Tyger. He died at sea on 25th March 1733, aged 33, when his ship was in passage from the coast of Guinea to the West Indies.
