Description: al-Ma’mun, AH 194-218, AD 813-833. Fals de cuivre AH 219, al-Quds (Jérusalem). Under the Umayyads Jerusalem was known by its Roman name Iliya Filastin (Arabic names for Palestine), but from the time of al-Ma’mun it was given the Islamic religious name al-Quds (meaning «holiness» or «sanctity»). This almost certainly refers to the shrine of the Dome of the Rock. This is the only coin on which al-Quds appears as a mint name. Album 291
