Description: Abo Elementary School and Fallout Shelter, located at 1802 West Centre Avenue in Artesia, New Mexico. This former school was built completely underground. The photo shows a small entrance structure (doors are on the other side). According to the plaques on the front, the school was built in 1962 and is a New Mexico Registered Cultural Property and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
