Description: Relief in 15th century English alabaster from the Archaeological Museum of Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz. It comes from the old Blood Hospital (Jerez); it could have been destined to be part of an altarpiece. It represents the Resurrection of Christ, in this case based on the tradition of the Gospel of St. Matthew, which is the only one that mentions sentries next to the tomb. In addition to this alabaster, two other specimens of the same origin are preserved in Jerez: one in the church of Santiago and the other in the convent of Espíritu Santo. Taking into account the low number of existing pieces in Andalusia, nine in total, this volume is indicative of Jerez's significant commercial relations with England.
