Description: Looking north at the entrance to the DSNY facility at the former Edgemere Landfill adjacent to Rockaway Community Park, at Almeda Avenue and Beach 51st Street / Conch Place near the Conch and Norton Basins in Edgemere, Queens. Rockaway Community Park in its current state is the only portion of the landfill successfully developed into parkland. The landfill continues to contain the DSNY Queens District 14 Garage (pictured), and a collection facility for the gas emitted from the landfill.
