Miniature medallion illustrating Simon Bar Kochba heading to battle against the Romans. On the left side is a fragment depiction of the walled city of Jerusalem. Bar Kochba and four of his men are holding swords and shields with the Star of David. Two of the men are on horseback. Bar Kochba's shield also shows an illustration of the lion of Judah. On the lower left side, an empty helmet and a shield with the seven branch Menorah may speak to the failure of the revolt. Signed and dated "A. Szyk. 1927.Paris".
