Description: Atlantes, by architectural sculptor Karl Bitter for the St. Paul Building, at 220 Broadway, New York City in 1898. Removed before bldg. demo in the 1950s, and installed on a reproduction of the façade of the building’s entry in Holliday Park, Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S. The Atlantes statues, called “the Races of Man” represented the African-American, Asian, and Caucasian races laboring together as they appeared to hold the NYC skyscraper on their backs.
