(public display, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver, Colorado) This fantastically gold-rich rock comes from Colorado's Little Annie Mine in the San Juan Mountains. The 114 pound boulder has an estimated 316 troy ounces of native gold. The lithology hosting the gold is a porous volcanic breccia of Tertiary age. Locality: loose boulder along Little Annie Mine, just below the Little Annie Mine, Summitville Mining District, San Juan Mountains, Colorado, USA
