Description: Wilten Abbey consists of the Collegiate Church and the monastery. The first monastery on this site came about in 878AD. The legend is that a fight broke out between two giants, the local Tyrsus and a Germanic immigrant, Haymon. Haymon caused the death of Tyrsus and as atonement he is said to have built the monastery in Wilten.
