Description: The Avent Cabin, constructed ca. 1850. The cabin is located along Jakes Creek, a mile or so above Elkmont, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. An unmarked spur trail leads to the cabin from the Jakes Creek Trail. Artist Mayna Avent used the cabin as a studio from 1919-1939. Image by Brian Stansberry.
