Detail from monument to Sir Amyas Bampfylde in All Saints' Church, North Molton. The correct arms for Clifton of Barrington Court are the arms of Clifton of Clifton Hall, Nottingham (Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold (1608) and Clifton Baronets (1611)): Sable semée of cinquefoils and a lion rampant argent. The 1st Baron Clifton of Leighton Bromswold sold Barrington Court in 1605 (Victoria County History)
