These arms are given by Debrett, 1790 (above) as the 5th of 6 quarterings of the arms of John Griffin Griffin, 4th Baron Howard de Walden, 1st Baron Braybrooke (1719-1797), but are here promoted to the 2nd quarter of 8, perhaps to honour them as royal arms. 3: Gules, a cross patonce or (Latimer[3]) 4: Gules, crusily and a lion rampant argent (De La Warr[4]) 5: Gules, on a bend between six cross-crosslets fitchy argent an escutcheon or charged with a demi-lion rampant pierced through the mouth by an arrow within a double tressure flory counterflory of the first (Howard, with augmentation of honour. Baron Howard de Walden is a title created by writ of summons in 1597 by Queen Elizabeth I for Admiral Lord Thomas Howard, a younger son of Thomas Howard, 4th Duke of Norfolk, by his second wife Margaret Audley, daughter of Thomas Audley, 1st Baron Audley of Walden.
