Description: Bathurst City Coat of Arms were granted on September 6, 1960. The arms represent the gold mining period and the later settlement of the land with a miner holding a shovel and a farmer with a sickle. The emu and kangaroo represent native animals common in the region and the Hereford cattle and Merino sheep the agricultural activity suited to the area. The railway wheel represents the major railway centre that Bathurst had become. The Latin inscription reads in English 'the public safety is my reward'
