Description: Big chunks missing The cliffs here are unstable and dangerous. New erosion is visible everywhere, with chunks of the Norfolk Coast Path/Peddars Way missing, having tumbled down onto the beach. The North Norfolk cliffs are basically comprised of soft glacial sediments, made up of layers of silts, sands, clays that were deposited during the glacial and interglacial phases of the last 2 million years. They provide little resistance to the aggressive action of North Sea waves, which erode the base. Hence cliff erosion is a major problem here and many sections have become unstable. Roughly 2.5 metres (in some areas up to 5 metres) of headland are lost per year.
