Description: This photo, taken in 2010, looks northerly at the Coincidence Range Finder (CRF) station for Battery Bumpus, a concrete blockhouse built over the position of Battery Rice, Gun #1, which was never installed after the battery was constructed. The side of the blockhouse towards the camera is oriented towards the northeast, across Hull Gut towards the open ocean. The position held a 9-foot long CRF instrument, which must have just barely fit into the blockhouse. Now heavily overgrown, the station originally sat atop a grassy knoll that was clear all the way down to the shore had a sweeping view of Nantasket Roads and the channel to the sea.
