Description: Ancient Libraries Exhibition (Colosseum, 2014). Bronze bust of a philosopher doubtfully identified as the philosopher Heraclitus. The original was found in the Villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum, and is now in the Museo Archeologico in Naples (inv. nr. 5623). Concerning this sculpture, the Naples Museum says [1]: "The identification of the character, remains problematic. In the past it was proposed to recognize the piece as Heraclitus, but in more recent times, it has been suggested that it is Empedocles.
