Description: The officers mess at the former flying boat and seaplane base of RAF Calshot, Hampshire, UK. At the extreme left corner of the building (known as Houston House) shown on this image is a Pink Plaque that records that in 1931 Lady Houston funded a 1931 British entry in the Schneider Trophy that was won by the Supermarine S6B designed by R.J.Mitchell who later designed the Spitfire. The building served as an officer's mess and the station headquarters until 1961 when RAF Calshot was closed and ownership of the site passed to Hampshire County Council. The illustration in pebbledash and black render on the nearest end wall is of the Supermarine S6B by a local artist.
