Description: The Capitol Theatre was originally designed in 1913 as the Monarch Theatre, but not completed until 1916 as the Allen Theatre. In 1922 it was renamed the Capitol Theatre. It remained a single-screen, 910-seat theatre until 1982, when demands for a modern theatre saw it subdivided into a 652-seat triplex. When the theatre was closed in 2001, it underwent restoration to transform it back into a single auditorium. In 2003, it reopened as a live performance venue and the centrepiece of the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre. The buildings on either side are part of the centre as well.
