Description: Carlisle Cross. Carlisle Market Cross (aka “Carlisle Cross” or “Carel Cross”) was erected in 1682 on the site of an earlier cross. On the top, there is a lion which is sitting holding a scroll with the city arms. Below it, there are four sundials with incised Roman numerals. It is Grade I-listed (Historic England List Entry Number: 1297369)
