Description: This watercolour of Carrigrohane Castle, County Cork is by Gabriel Beranger (c.1729-1817). A similar image by Jonathan Fisher (d.1809) (without man/dog/colour) is described in the National Libary Catalogue as a view "of the ruined three-storey castle of Carrigrohane, County Cork, Ireland, with bargizan at one corner, string courses near the top of the windows, and with further defences to the left", and dated to 1794. This coloured image by Gabriel Beranger is one of a number of sketchings of Ireland's antiquities which were mainly carried out by Gabriel Beranger in the 1770s and 1780s as part of a commission (according to the RIA at least) by William Burton Conyngham.
