Description: Female amethyst sunbird in nest, suspended from lower branches of a Terminalia sericea tree, unlike other local sunbird species. The hood over the entrance, rounded base and general pear-shape of the nest is typical. Built by the female only, and often placed near human habitation, like this one, situated between two outbuildings at a farm homestead in Gauteng, South Africa.
