Description: Signs at the Cienega Creek Natural Preserve in Pima County, Arizona. The Rincon Mountains are in the background. James Arthur Mercer was a County Ranger that was ambushed and mortally wounded by a suspected cattle rustler named J. Padilla north of the ghost town of Pantano on December 2, 1914. He died in Tucson several days later on December 10, 1914.
