Description: Coast Defence Battery - September 1940 image: A coastal heavy artillery emplacement, probably at Grain Fort, which defended the Rivers Thames and Medway. The emplacement is covered by camouflage netting overlooking the sea, which is visible on the left. The large calibre gun, in the centre left, is also camouflaged with paint in shades of green, brown and yellow. The emplacement is constructed from concrete. All is set against a cloudy blue sky.
