Description: He fought on the side of James II in Ireland, however, after the seige of Limerick, in which it is suspected he aided the enemy, he switched sides and openly supported King William bringing several Irish horsemen with him. He was thus hated and referred to as "the traitor". Besides being granted his ancestral estates (belonging to his brother Simon), a pension is said to have been given him, and in 1702, King William appointed him a Major-General in the Dutch Service; but after the death of King William, he retired to Luttrellstown.
