Image: Colorado Springs' Oldest Pioneer Cabin
Description: This Cabin was built prior to 1870. It is located in a remote area on the U.S. Air Force Academy and is one of the oldest dwellings in the Pikes Peak Region. Ox-drawn wagons travelled near on the Colorado City-Denver Stage Road, running along Monument Creek. The narrow gauge Denver and Rio Grande Railroad passed within a few miles of this location. William A. Burgess, his wife and two sons built and lived in this cabin. It is relatively small, but has an upstairs loft, comfortable if you don't bump your head.
