Description: Congregation Beth Hamedrash Hagodol Anshe Ungarn (Great House of Study of the People of Hungary) at 242 East 7th Street between Avenues C and D in the Alphabet City area of the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, was built in the Neoclassical style in 1905 as a shtiblech, or tiny synagogue which uses the space where there would otherwise be a tenement building.
