Description: Monroe, Georgia is about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. Portions of the Oscar nominated movie, Hidden Figures, were filmed in and near Monroe. The cornerstone of this Second Empire Victorian style Courthouse was laid in 1883, being the third serving Walton County since its creation in 1818. In 1933, the courthouse underwent significant renovation adding Neo Classical replacements.
