Description: Escudo de Armas de Medellín (es:Colombia), concedido por el rey Carlos II de España por medio de la Real Cédula dada en Madrid el 31 de marzo de 1678, la descripción de dicho documento dice así: Un escudo campo azul y en él un torreón de muy grueso, redondo, todo alrededor almenado y sobre él un escudo de armas que tiene quince encajes, siete azules y ocho de oro, y sobre su coronel que le toca y en el homenaje de la torre a cada uno de los lados un torreoncillo, así mismo almenados y en medio de ellos puesta una imagen de Nuestra Señora sobre una nube, con su hijo en los brazos.
