Description: Coin 1 matonya (1/100 birr), Ethiopia, 1897, Emperor Menelik II. Copper, weight 5.00 g, diameter 25.2 mm, thickness 1.2 mm. Avers legend: "ደግማዊ ንጉሠ ነገሥት ዘኢትዮጵያ። / lagrange", the legend of reverse: "ሞዓ አንበሳ ዘእምነገደ ይሁዳ", denomination - "የብር መቶወኛ", date - "፲፰፻፹፱" (1889, according to the Ethiopian calendar) . Edge is smooth. The coin was minted at the Paris Mint, with a mintage of 500,000 copies. Engraver Jean Lagrange.
