Image: Flag of the New Orleans Grays
Description: Organized in November 1835, the New Orleans Grays participated in driving the Mexicans from San Antonio and many were massacred at Goliad on Palm Sunday, March 27, 1826. Their flag was of bright blue silk on which appeard the inscription: "First Company of Texas Volunteers, From New Orleans." An eagle carried in its beak a streamer on which appeared the words: "God & Liberty." Source: C. E. Gilbert in "A Concise History of Early Texas: As told by its 30 historic flags."
