The western half of the island is included in Lawrenceburg Township, Dearborn County, Indiana, while the eastern half is part of Miami Township, Hamilton County, Ohio. Owned by a nature conservancy, the island is uninhabited; the primary human presence on the island is a railroad bridge over the island's northern tip.
