Description: The flywheel is around 4 metres in diameter, fabricated from (I am guessing) cast iron pieces rivetted together. The scale can be seen in comparison with the stairs on the left. This particular engine was installed in Whitbread's brewery in 1785, and clocked up 102 years' work. More about it here: www.powerhousemuseum.com/collection/database/?irn=7177
