Description: "In order to secure the best possible photographs of the famous statue of Joan of Arc on Riverside Drive, the Joan of Arc Statue Committee, of which Dr. George F. Kunz, of Tiffany Co., is president, recently held an open competition, through the New York Camera Club. Scores of photographs were entered and publicly exhibited at the Camera Club during October. Here are the four prize winners. The Joan of Arc statue was designed by an American girl, Anna Vaughn Hyatt, and unveiled on December 7, 1915, by Mrs. Thomas A. Edison. It is interesting to note that the base of the statue, of Mohegan granite, is supported by arches in which are 3,600 pounds of stone taken from the dungeon in which Joan of Arc was confined before being put to death at Rouen."
