Description: Frenchman Lake, on Frenchman Flat, with its "doom town" of buildings, roads and railroad bridges. The first nuclear bomb tests at Area 5 in the Nevada Test Site were conducted here. So were many more, mostly in the early 1950s. Here is a video of Doom Town being blown up. On the far side is the Desert National Wildlife Range. A total of 19 tests were done in Area 5. Most were within the area shown.
