Description: The Portsmouth Friends Meetinghouse, Parsonage and Cemetery, located at 11 Middle Road and 2232 East Main Road in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, was built c.1699-1700 as a meetinghouse for the Religious Society of Friends, colloquially known as Quakers. The community of Portsmouth itself was founded by Quakers exiled from Massachusetts Bay Colony, and is the second oldest colonial community in Rhode Island. The Meetinghouse, its parsonage and cemetery were added to the National Register of Historic Place in 1973. As of 2020, the buildings were listed for sale.
