Description: Bus leaving Rochdale Bus Station, and passing the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale's Municipal Offices. By 1984 local bus services around Rochdale were operated by the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive, a huge organisation that had subsumed all the former municipally-operated services in the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester. The one- and two-digit route numbers which had been familiar for years were all changed to 3-digit numbers. Here is a Route 455 double decker: the destination blind reads PEPPERMINT BRIDGE, a locality in Newhey.
