Description:  :Global energy consumption by source (substitution method) The share of global energy consumption by source, as measured by the substitution method. The substitution method corrects primary energy consumption for efficiency losses in the use of fossil energy sources (and is a closer, but not exact, approximation of final energy). It therefore represents a closer approximation of the quantity of energy necessary for total substitution with non-fossil sources.
