Description: Gold, Sylvanite Locality: Cash Mine, Gold Hill, Gold Hill District, Boulder County, Colorado, USA (Locality at mindat.org) Size: 4.1 x 3.8 x 2.4 cm. A classic and certainly rare matrix wire gold specimen from one of the northern most mining districts of the Colorado Mineral Belt. This particular specimen was collected by Russ McClellen in 1961, and was part of Rich Kosnar's Colorado Gold suite (specimen number G571B) for over 30 years. The piece features several small, stout, heavily striated "wires" of Gold which are associated with razor sharp, highly lustrous pyritohedral Pyrite crystals, and many bright metallic white, bladed crystals of the telluride, Sylvanite with Quartz on matrix. A great historic, documented Gold specimen from this famous district in Colorado.
