Description: Roman tombstone from Zürich, circa AD 185–200, excavated in 1747. Detail: second half of the inscription. – The Roman name of the city is mentioned in the form of the adjective Turicen(sis): "Unio, the emperor's freedman, head of the customs post of Turicum of the Gallic Customs, and Aelia Secundina, the parents, [erected this monument] for their dearest son." (In the preceding four lines of the inscription, the deceased son's name is mentioned: Lucius Aelius Urbicus, and the fact that he had lived one year, five months and five days.)
