Description: An 1873 bronze statue by William Brodie commemorates the faithful Skye terrier that kept vigil over his master's grave for 14 years in nearby Greyfriars. Bobby was granted the freedom of the city and is buried in unconsecrated ground just beyond the kirkyard entrance. His owner, John Gray, was a police constable, not a shepherd as popularly believed. Bobby died in 1872 but lives on in books and films.
